HOW YOU CAN ASSIST

WAYS YOU CAN HELP

Our committee warmly encourages parents to be actively involved in their athlete’s sport and the efficient running of events on Friday evenings.

Your support plays an important role in making each week possible for all athletes to enjoy and participate.

We understand that it can feel a little overwhelming at first—but everyone starts somewhere, and we were all new once too! Our team is always happy to guide you, so please feel comfortable stepping forward and offering a hand where you can.

Age Group Assistance

springwood oval access during centre evening

ALL members who are on the field of play must be classified and identifiable as:

a) Registered Athlete (they should be in uniform – but approval can be given for exceptions)

b) Registered Trialist (All Trialists should be registered with the clubhouse and will need to collect an identification arm band each week from the Information Station)

c) Age Group Helpers. ALL oval helpers from the Track team to age group helpers will be required to wear an identifying vest.

ONLY THOSE ASSISTING IN A ROLE SHOULD BE ON THE FIELD OF PLAY.

d) Committee and Centre Coaches. These are wearing either Sharks Committee/Coach Shirts

If you are not in one of these groups, you WILL be required to either collect a helper’s vest (and help) or leave the field of play and spectate from outside of the fencing perimeter

Age Group Marshal
The Age Marshal plays a key role in ensuring a smooth and successful evening. They oversee their age group, guide athletes between events, and help ensure each event runs correctly.
Age Group Recorder
The Age Group Recorder is responsible for accurately recording athlete performances during events, using tablets to enter results.
Age Group Helpers
Most age groups require at least four event helpers. Their role is to assist with raking, spiking, and retrieving implements, while also supporting the Age Marshal in supervising and guiding athletes.

Track Team Assistance

springwood little athletics track team requirements

A number of important roles need to be filled each week to keep our program running smoothly.

We’re incredibly grateful for our regular volunteer crew—but we’d love to welcome more helpers to the team. Getting involved doesn’t have to mean a weekly commitment. Even occasional support can make a big difference.

By sharing these roles across more people, we can:

  • Give volunteers more time to watch and enjoy their athlete’s participation
  • Reduce pressure on our regular team
  • Ensure we’re well covered if someone is unavailable on a given week

If you’re able to help—even from time to time—we’d love to have you involved.

Starter
A good start plays an important role in all track events.  And a good starter  keeps the program on track and teaches athletes good starting technique.

We would love to have a few more starters trained so that the load can be shared, freeing others to spend some time with their own athletes.

Join us in Fundraising

Springwood is always looking for support with our fundraising efforts.

All funds raised go directly towards providing high-quality coaching programs and end-of-season celebrations for our athletes.

From Bunnings BBQs to our Giant Mega Raffles, there are plenty of ways to get involved—and we’d love your support.

We’re also keen to hear from anyone interested in joining a fundraising sub-committee to help generate new ideas. If you’ve got something creative or “outside the box” in mind, let’s chat!

Join us on the Committee

We encourage all members to consider becoming part of our committee.

If you’re interested, simply speak with an existing committee member to get started.

The commitment is straightforward—attend a monthly meeting (held on the second Tuesday evening of each month) and be willing to share your thoughts and contribute to on-going discussions that help shape our club.
