Fin Report – 28th October 2026

Weekly Updates

Wednesday, 28 October Good evening Sharkies, Well, the rain certainly got the better of us last week, and unfortunately we had no choice but to cancel Friday night’s program. When we assessed the facilities again on Monday, the grounds were still extremely soft underfoot. We therefore made the decision to hold off on most activities this week to give the track and surrounding areas the best possible chance to dry out and recover ahead of this Friday night. Unfortunately, the wet conditions have also made it difficult for our small maintenance team to carry out the usual weekly preparation work. That means we will some extra help from our Sharks community on Thursday Thanks, as always, for your continued support. We’re looking forward getting our relay teams out on the track and attempting to repeat last week’s Relay Night Looking forward to seeing everyone at the track on Friday!David and the Springwood Team Urgent Working Bee (your help required) Emergency Sharks Working Bee Thursday from 5:00pm We’ll work to get the track and facilities back to a safe, usable condition for Friday night. Any time you can spare will be greatly appreciated, even if it’s only 30 minutes. Got a whipper snipper, blower, rake or other useful gardening equipment? Bring it along. But most importantly, bring yourself! I really can’t stress this enough: if we can’t get the facilities back to a safe condition on Thursday evening, there is a real possibility that we will need to cancel Friday night again. So if you can lend a hand, please come down and help us give Friday night the best possible chance of going ahead. Many hands really will make light work. Thanks, Sharkies! Wet Weather Proceedure Wet Weather Procedures  With storm season upon us, a quick reminder about our Wet Weather Process. We know families appreciate as much notice as possible, so we aim to make any weather-related decisions between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm. If the program needs to be cancelled or modified for safety reasons, we’ll post updates on our social media channels and email the primary contact address on your athlete’s registration. Please make sure you’re following us on social media.Facebook PageSpringwood Sharks Community Group | * PRIVATE GROUP * A like, comment or interaction with our posts also helps the algorithms keep Springwood Sharks updates appearing in your feed. Age Manager Briefings Age Manager Briefings We hope our Age Marshal Briefing Sessions will be a useful addition to Friday nights. They’re a quick opportunity to go over anything important for the evening, while also giving Age Marshals the chance to ask questions, raise concerns or clarify anything before we get underway.  It is important that someone from the group attends (even if you are not the Age Manager) This Friday, we’ll be focusing on the 4 x 100m relays, including how we’ll form teams for the evening and which Regional Relay teams need to stay together for a practice run. These briefings are very much a two-way conversation. The aim is to make sure our Age Marshals have the information and support they need and to help the night run that little bit more smoothly for everyone. Weekly Updates

Tuesday, 20 October Good evening Sharkies, This Friday is Relay Night! Every athlete will take part in their usual field events, while also getting the opportunity to experience relays. I’ll be taking final relay nominations on Friday evening, with teams to be published in our closed Springwood Sharks Community Group on Facebook. Please check your athlete’s nominations once teams are published and let us know as soon as possible if any adjustments are needed. It’s a two-way conversation designed to help us provide your age group with the support it needs and keep the evening running as smoothly as possible. Wet Weather Process With storm season upon us, a quick reminder about our Wet Weather Process. We know families appreciate as much notice as possible, so we aim to make any weather-related decisions between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm. If the program needs to be cancelled or modified for safety reasons, we’ll post updates on our social media channels; and email the primary contact address on your athlete’s registration. Please make sure you’re following our socials. A like, comment or interaction with our posts also helps the algorithms keep Springwood Sharks updates appearing in your feed. Weekly Updates

Thursday, 15 October 2026 Good evening Sharkies, We’ve now reached Week 5, and it’s great to see everyone settling back into the rhythm of the season. This Friday, we’ll be introducing Age Marshal Briefing Sessions. These short briefings will help us identify any support needs, share important updates, and discuss any adjustments to the evening’s program. A reminder that hurdles are on the program for all age groups this week. Hurdles are always a lot of fun, but they do require extra hands to move, lower, and reset when they are knocked over. If you’re helping out on the night, please be prepared to assist so we can keep things moving and finish on time. I’d also like to take the opportunity to remind everyone about our Wet Weather Process. We know families appreciate as much notice as possible, so we aim to make any weather-related decisions between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm.  We’ll post updates on our social media channels, and we’ll email the primary contact address if the program needs to be cancelled or modified for safety reasons.  So make sure you follow and engage with our socials to ensure to assist the algorithms.  Thanks for your continued support, and we’ll see you all at the track on Friday! David and the Springwood Team Friday 16 October’s program Regional Relays (Sunday 8 November) Regional Relays are just around the corner.  This season, the South East Regional Relays will be held at the State Athletics Facility (SAF) on Sunday, 8th November.   Nominations for teams will close on Friday evening (23rd October) It is a great, fun event (Under 7 to Under 17) and the only athletics carnival where the focus is on the team.
