Weekly Update - Friday Nov 28

Good afternoon, all
I hope you are all surviving and didn't suffer too much damage from the wild storms that have been rolling through the Logan region (particularly Monday afternoon). If you need assistance, just reach out, as at Springwood, we are more than a Sporting Club, we are a community.
Anyway, back to the athletics thing - Friday (hopefully) sees Hurdles on the program again - it is an event that can be heavily impacted by track conditions, so Friday's program may require some changes if it's deemed unsafe. This won't occur until tomorrow afternoon. To Under 8s and U11s, you have a Coaching night, so to the parents, it is a GREAT night to assist in the Canteen or learn the track systems and assist the team.
Another quick heads up - to be eligible to compete at Regional Championiships in February, athletes must have competed (hand have results recorded) at four (4) cente evenings before nominations close in late January .... So if you havent been much, you may want to start getting some results in the system.
REMINDER ON SOME IMPORTANT OFFICIAL THINGS
Please remember - we are all volunteers. We appreciate everyone who sticks their hand up to assist on the night. That said, please remember that, to ensure the track program is completed in a reasonable timeframe, it has 'PRIORITORY' status in the program. This means if an age group is called to track, please move as quickly as possible to the marshalling area. Remember Age Marshalls, just because you see a free event station, it does not mean you can automatically 'jump in' - the age group may have been called to track.
Dogs are still not allowed at the grounds on Friday evenings.
Springwood falls under Queensland Government Legislation where Smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, is banned across Queensland at or within 10 metres of playing and viewing areas during organised under-18 sporting and recreational events.
Please keep ALL balls off the field.
The High Jump Mats are OUT-OF-BOUNDS unless being supervised by a coach or parent.
CODES OF CONDUCT - Springwood operates under a zero-tolerance policy for any breaches of the codes of conduct - you can view them here:

RECORDS THIS SEASON
Been an extremely full-on last few months, but it would be remiss of us to not stop, breathe, and recognise some great efforts across the age groups. With over 3,500 seasons bests so far this season, you all are crushing it.
For those new to the Centre, Springwood keeps two sets of records -
a) Centre Records (set by Springwood athletes at the centre) and
b) Club Records (Set by Springwood athletes at LAQ-sanctioned competitions)

COACHING

Ever thought about coaching?! As you can see, we can only offer coaching around our coaches and their schedules, which leads me to introduce the following initiative.
Hey Sharkie parents,
We're excited to announce an awesome opportunity coming up for parents to get involved and help our club grow!
As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the experience and skill development for our athletes, we're looking for interested parents to complete a Level 1 Queensland Athletics coaching course, and we're covering the cost!
Here's the deal:
If you're interested in learning to coach and advancing your skill set, we want to hear from you!
We'll cover 50% of the course cost upfront, and if you commit to weekly or fortnightly coaching for the rest of the season, we'll cover the remaining 50%!
Not only will you be supporting our club and athletes, but you'll also gain valuable skills and experience.
If you're keen to get involved and make a difference, please reply to this post or send me a message expressing your interest. We'll provide more details on the course and next steps.
Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to be part of our club's growth and development!
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Coach Jez
